Time to spring clean your strategy?
I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed people are starting to feel happier and more positive as the days get longer here in the UK. More sunlight, buds on the trees, flowers appearing, lambs in the field and all that good stuff. This got me thinking about Springtime being a great time to look forward and review your strategy.
Our avid readers might remember in our January Sirise Insights I cautioned against making loads of New Year’s Resolutions. For many, April is the start of a fresh fiscal cycle and a better time to relook at your objectives and set some priorities. I hope you will find these six questions helpful in spring cleaning your strategy, both personally and in business.
Is your purpose front and centre? If it is, you will be confident you are moving in the right direction. Your ‘North Star’ will still be guiding you to achieve your goals. You will see the relevance of what you are doing as you live a ‘Purpose-led Life’.
What's good enough at the moment? You might want to be excellent in everything you do but sometimes the return is not worth the investment, so consider where things are good enough for the time being and accept that as okay.
What have you neglected and need to make room for? Or “What do I need to let go of?” This is all about prioritisation and it’s important you don’t have too many objectives. Remember, if you've got 15 priorities, then in reality you don't have any!
What isn't adding value? This could be for you personally or to your stakeholders. Consider the things that are harder than they need to be. What could you do differently? How could you invest your time and resources better? What would bring increased efficiency and reduce anything draining your energy?
What might let you down? This is an opportunity to assess potential risks. We all could benefit from some future gazing from time to time, to try and address future pitfalls before they happen. Make sure you’re keeping an eye on the horizon.
Have you consulted the right people and how long ago? Getting the right, up to date advice, coaching, training etc can be a game changer here and an alternative perspective is rarely a bad thing.
And along with thinking about the big stuff, just a reminder to embrace Springtime and appreciate the optimistic signs nature provides for us. Don’t miss the opportunity to go outside, look at the blossoms and feel some sunshine on your back… And please call me if I can help you navigate any of your planning.
Warm regards,
